Cornelius de Wit
Cornelius de Wit MHM (born July 21, 1922 in Hilversum ; † March 8, 2002 ) was a Dutch religious , prelate of San Jose de Antique and superior general of the Mill Hill missionaries.
Life
Cornelius de Wit joined the religious order of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill and was ordained a priest on July 14, 1946 .
Pope John XXIII appointed him on April 12, 1962 Prelate of San Jose de Antique and Titular Bishop of Amisus . The Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines , Archbishop Salvatore Siino , donated him episcopal ordination on June 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Juan Nicolasora Nilmar , Auxiliary Bishop in Jaro , and Anthony Denis Galvin MHM, Vicar Apostolic of Miri .
He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On February 18, 1978 he renounced his titular bishop's seat in the course of the new allocation guidelines of the Roman Curia . On August 3, 1982 he was appointed Superior General of the Mission Society of St. Joseph of Mill Hill elected. He resigned from office as Prelate of San Jose de Antique on August 9, 1982. On January 22, 1983, John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Respecta .
