The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jaro ( lat. : Archidioecesis Iarensis o S. Elizabeth ) is one on the Philippines located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Jaro .

history

The Archdiocese of Jaro was on May 27, 1865 by Pope Pius IX. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Qui ab initio from cession of territory by the Diocese of Cebu as the Diocese of Jaro and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manila as a suffragan . On April 10, 1910, the Diocese of Jaro gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Zamboanga . Another assignment of territory took place on July 15, 1932 to establish the Bacolod diocese . The diocese of Jaro was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cebu as a suffragan on April 28, 1934. On July 2, 1936, the Diocese of Jaro gave up parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Mindoro .

The diocese of Jaro was on June 29, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Ex supremi . On March 24, 1962, the Archdiocese of Jaro gave up parts of its territory to establish the Territorial Prelature of San Jose de Antique .

The Archdiocese of Jaro includes the provinces of Iloilo and Guimaras .
