Alberto Jover Piamonte

Alberto Jover Piamonte (born November 21, 1934 in Iloilo City , Western Visayas , † December 17, 1998 in Jaro ) was a Filipino clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Jaro .

Life

Alberto Jover Piamonte studied Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary in Jaro. He received on 22 March 1958 by the Archbishop of Jaro, José Maria Cuenco , the sacrament of Holy Orders . Piamonte graduated from the Papal and Royal University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Manila with a degree in canon law . He then received his doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome . Afterwards Alberto Jover Piamonte became auditor - prelate at the Roman Rota . He was the first Filipino to hold this post.

On December 28, 1974, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Gubaliana and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Jaro. The Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines, Archbishop Bruno Torpigliani , donated him episcopal ordination on February 2, 1975 in the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Jaro ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Manila , Jaime Lachica Sin , and the Archbishop of Jaro, Artemio Casas .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Jaro on April 2, 1986.
