history
Pope Pius X founded the diocese of Tuguegarao on April 10, 1910 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manila as a suffragan . The seminary dedicated to the Holy Hyacinth was founded in 1918.
On June 29, 1951, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia . With the Apostolic Constitution Maximopere optantibus , it was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan Archbishopric on September 21, 1974 .
