The Archdiocese of Capiz ( lat. : Archidioecesis Capicensis ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Roxas City . It includes the province of Capiz .

history

Pope Leo XIII. founded it on January 27, 1951 from cession of territory by the Diocese of Jaro and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cebu as a suffragan diocese. On June 29, 1951, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Jaro .

On January 17, 1976, it was raised to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese.

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
