The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Davao ( lat. : Archidioecesis Davaensis ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Davao City .

The Archdiocese of Davao was founded on December 17, 1949 by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Satius haud dubie established from cessions of territory of the diocese of Zamboanga as the territorial prelature of Davao and subordinated to the archdiocese of Cebu as a suffragan . On June 29, 1951, the Territorial Prelature Davao was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro as a suffragan. The Territorial Prelature Davao was on July 11, 1966 by Pope Paul VI. elevated to the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Catholicas res magna .

The Diocese of Davao was on June 29, 1970 by Paul VI. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Sanctae Ecclesiae utilitatibus . On November 5, 1979, the Archdiocese of Davao gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Digos .

The Archdiocese of Davao includes the cities of Davao City and Island Garden City of Samal in the Davao del Norte province .
