The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lipa ( lat. : Archidioecesis Lipensis ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Lipa City . It includes the Batangas Province .
history
Pope Pius X founded the Diocese of Lipa on April 10, 1910 from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Cáceres and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manila as a suffragan .
With the Apostolic Constitution Qui summi Numinis on June 20, 1972, it was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese .
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- on July 2, 1936 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Mindoro ;
- on March 28, 1950 to the diocese of Lucena ;
- on April 25, 1950 to the Territorial Prelature of Infanta ;
- on November 28, 1966 to the Diocese of San Pablo .

Alleged apparition of Mary
In 1948, Our Lady is said to have appeared to a novice in the Carmel of Lipa . In 1951 the Archdiocese of Lipa initially prohibited worship. In 2015, Archbishop Argüelles recognized the apparition as supernatural. The recognition as a place of apparition was revoked in June 2016 by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the apparition was rejected as not supernatural .
