The Diocese of Lucena ( lat. : Dioecesis Lucenensis ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Lucena City .
history
The diocese of Lucena was on March 28, 1950 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Quo aeternae from cessions of territory by the Diocese of Lipa and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manila as a suffragan . On June 20, 1972, the diocese of Lucena was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Lipa as a suffragan. The Diocese of Lucena gave on April 25, 1977 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Boac . Another assignment of territory took place on April 9, 1984 to establish the diocese of Gumaca .
The diocese of Lucena comprises the central-western part of the province of Quezon .
