The Archdiocese of Ozamis ( lat. : Archidioecesis Ozamisanus ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Ozamis . It includes the Misamis Occidental Province .
history
Pope Pius XII founded the Territorial Prelature Ozamis on January 27, 1951 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cebu as a suffragan . On June 29 of the same year it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro .
On February 17, 1971, she lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Iligan Territorial Prelature . At the same time it was raised to a diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Zamboanga as a suffragan . With the Apostolic Constitution Quo maius on January 24, 1983 it was raised to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese.
