The Diocese of Pagadian ( lat. : Dioecesis Pagadianensis ) is the Philippines located Roman Catholic diocese based in Pagadian . It covers the northern and eastern parts of the Zamboanga del Sur province .

history

Pope Paul VI founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Ut fidelium necessitatibus on November 12, 1971 from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Zamboanga , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese. On January 24, 1983, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz .
