The Diocese of Tagum ( Latin : Dioecesis Tagamna ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in the south of the island of Mindanao in the Philippines , with its seat in Tagum City . It includes the provinces of Davao del Norte (with the exception of Island Garden City of Samal ) and Davao de Oro .
history
Pope John XXIII founded the Territorial Prelature Tagum on January 13, 1962 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Davao .
With the Apostolic Constitution Qui in Beati Petri on October 11, 1980, it was raised to a diocese, which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Davao as a suffragan diocese. On February 16, 1984 it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Diocese of Mati .
