The Diocese of Miri ( Latin Dioecesis Miriensis ) is in Malaysia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Miri .

history

The Diocese of Miri was on December 19, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Kuching as the Apostolic Vicariate Miri . On May 31, 1976, the Apostolic Vicariate Miri was by Pope Paul VI. raised to the diocese and subordinated to the archdiocese of Kuching as a suffragan . The Diocese of Miri gave up on December 21, 1997 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Brunei .
