The Diocese of Melaka-Johor ( lat. : Dioecesis Melakana-Giohorana ) is in Malaysia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Johor Bahru . It includes the states of Malacca and Johor in southwest Malaysia .
history
Today's diocese of Melaka - Johor goes back to the diocese of Malacca , which was founded in 1558 in Malacca , which was then Portuguese. In 1838 this diocese was abolished and replaced by a Vicariate Apostolic , headed by the Paris Mission , based in Singapore . From this in turn the Archdiocese of Malacca-Singapore emerged. After the independence of Singapore was made by Pope Paul VI. 1972 the division of the archdiocese: the diocese of Malakka-Johor was established on December 18, 1972 from the Malaysian part and subordinated to the archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur as a suffragan . On May 27, 1985, the diocese of Malacca-Johor was renamed the Diocese of Melaka-Johor .
