history

St. John's Cathedral in Kuala Lumpur

The archbishopric was founded on February 25, 1955 by Pope Pius XII. Erected from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Malacca as the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Malacca as a suffragan . On December 18, 1972, the diocese of Kuala Lumpur by Pope Paul VI. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Spe certa .

The territory includes the city of Kuala Lumpur and the states of Selangor , Negeri Sembilan , Pahang and Terengganu .
