The diocese of Sandakan ( lat. : Dioecesis Sandakanana ) is in Malaysia located Roman Catholic diocese based in Sandakan . It consists of the administrative areas of Sandakan Division and Tawau Division .

history

The diocese of Sandakan was founded on July 16, 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Missionalem per navitatem from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kuching as a suffragan . First bishop was Julius Dusin Gitom .

On May 23, 2008, the Diocese of Sandakan was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu as a suffragan.
