Murphy Nicholas Xavier Pakiam (born December 6, 1938 in Tapah ) is a Malaysian clergyman and retired Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur .

Life

Murphy Nicholas Xavier Pakiam was ordained a priest on May 10, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on April 1, 1995 auxiliary bishop in Kuala Lumpur and titular bishop of Chunavia . The Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Anthony Soter Fernandez , ordained him on 4 October of the same year Bishop ; Co- consecrators were James Chan Soon Cheong , Bishop of Melaka-Johor , and Antony Selvanayagam , Bishop of Penang .

He was named Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur on May 24, 2003, and inaugurated on May 29 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 13, 2013.
