Antony Selvanayagam

Antony Selvanayagam (born October 24, 1935 in Bentong , Pahang , Malaysia ) is a Malaysian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Penang .

Life

Antony Selvanayagam was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur on December 20, 1969 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Giru Mons and auxiliary bishop in Kuala Lumpur on March 6, 1980 . The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Dominic Vendargon , on September 1 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Anthony Soter Fernandez , Bishop of Penang, and James Chan Soon Cheong , Bishop of Malacca-Johor .

On July 2, 1983, he was appointed bishop of Penang. Pope Benedict XVI accepted his age-related retirement on July 7, 2012.
