history

On August 9, 1901, the general assembly of the Val Gardena section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DuOeAV) decided to build a refuge on Rasciesa for 6,000 crowns. However, Vinzenz Vinatzer-Sartëur built the hut with his own funds on behalf of the DÖAV. The hut was inaugurated very solemnly on August 24, 1903 by the curate Franz Anderlan and led by Vinzenz Vinatzer for ten years. In 1913, the Val Gardena section of the DÖAV bought the hut from the Vinatzer with financing of 53 shares at 100 kroner each. The hut fell into disrepair during the First World War and was restored after the war by the president of the St. Ulrich Martin Demetz beautification association for 9,000 lire. In 1923 the hut was expropriated by the Italian state and given to the Bozen section of the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI).

Hüttenwart were Josef Bernardi-Lësc and his wife Carolina Perathoner Baga from 1948 to 1949, Konrad Comploi-Coldeflam from 1950 to 1957 and his wife Clara Pitscheider-Menza, from 1958 to 1962 Batista Vinatzer and his wife Ottilia Insam-Tavella, from 1963 to 1997 Vinzenz Malsiner and his wife Anna Kerschbaumer . After 1997 the hut was closed and dilapidated. The hut was bought in 2005 by the municipality of Ortisei for 464,000 euros from the Bozen section of the CAI, completely demolished and for 1,946,000 euros according to a plan by Ing.Flavio Mussner in cooperation with the Lia da Mont , an association of the people of Val Gardena Sections of the CAI and the AVS , rebuilt. The requirement was to build an energy-saving and handicapped accessible shelter.

On December 21, 2010, the new hut was awarded the “Klimahaus A +” badge and opened. The current tenant is Simon Holzknecht-Martin and his family.
