Paul Tan Chee Ing SJ (born April 5, 1940 in Muar ) is a Malaysian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Melaka-Johor .

Life

Paul Tan Chee Ing was ordained a priest on June 21, 1971 . On February 2, 1979 he was incardinated with the first profession in the religious community of the Jesuits . He made his perpetual profession on August 15, 1989.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Melaka-Johor on February 13, 2003 . The Apostolic Delegate in Malaysia , Archbishop Adriano Bernardini , donated him episcopal ordination on May 15 of the same year; Co - consecrators were James Chan Soon Cheong , Former Bishop of Melaka-Johor, and Anthony Soter Fernandez , Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 19, 2015.
