Adriano Bernardini
Adriano Bernardini (born August 13, 1942 in Piandimeleto , Province of Pesaro and Urbino , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and diplomat emeritus of the Holy See .
Life
The Prefect of the Prefecture for the Economic Affairs of the Holy See , Egidio Vagnozzi , ordained him a priest on March 31, 1968 . In 1973, Bernardini entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and worked in the nunciatures in Pakistan , Venezuela and Spain . On January 7, 1989, he was appointed to the Charge d'Affaires in the Nunciature of Taiwan .
Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Falerii and apostolic nuncio in Bangladesh on August 20, 1992 . The Cardinal Secretary of State , Angelo Cardinal Sodano , donated his episcopal ordination on November 15th of the same year; Co-consecrators were Josip Uhač , secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Remigio Ragonesi , auxiliary bishop in Rome .
On June 15, 1996, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Madagascar , Mauritius and the Seychelles . On July 24, 1999, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand , Singapore, and Cambodia and Apostolic Delegate to Brunei Darussalam , Myanmar , Malaysia, and Laos . On April 26, 2003 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 15, 2011 as Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino .
On September 12, 2017, Emil Paul Tscherrig was appointed his successor by Pope Francis . On October 4th of the same year, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .
