Peter Celestine Elampassery

Peter Celestine Elampassery OFMCap (born June 28, 1938 in Muttuchira ; † May 27, 2015 ) was an Indian clergyman and bishop of Jammu-Srinagar .

Life

Peter Celestine Elampassery joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on October 3, 1966 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar on April 3, 1998 . The Archbishop of Delhi , Alan Basil de Lastic , ordained him episcopal on September 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Symphorian Thomas Keeprath OFMCap, Bishop of Jalandhar , and Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal OFMCap, Former Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar.

On December 3, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
