Hiromasa Yonebayashi ( jap. 米林宏昌 , Yonebayashi Hiromasa * 10. July 1973 in Nonoichi , Ishikawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese anime - Director and - Animator . Until 2015 he mainly worked for Studio Ghibli and has since been part of Studio Ponoc , which he founded together with Yoshiaki Nishimura .

Life

After studying at the Kanagawa College of Art (Japanese 金 沢 美術 工 芸 大学 Kanazawa Bijutsu Kōgei Daigaku ) Hiromasa Yonebayashi began his career in 1996 as an animator at the world-famous animation studio "Studio Ghibli", where he worked alongside Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata on some productions With. He first directed the 2010 film Arrietty, and won several awards. His second production, Memories of Marnie , was released in 2014 and was nominated for an Oscar 2016 in the category “ Best Animated Feature Film ”.
