The Hirschberg is a 1500 meter high mountain located in the Allgäu Alps north of Bad Hindelang . A special feature is the summit cross, which is not directly on the highest point of the mountain. Since the highest point cannot be seen from the village of Bad Hindelang, the cross was erected south of the summit. Some hiking maps only show the position and height of the summit cross of 1479 meters, but not the actual summit. The height of the Schartenberg is at least 80 meters, its dominance 600 meters, whereby the Spieser is the reference mountain in each case.

On the website of the municipality of Bad Hindelang, the Hirschberg is referred to as the local mountain of the municipality.

Ascent routes from Bad Hindelang

  • Over the Hirschbachtobel , on the eastern flank of the mountain. In the Hirschbachtobel there are display boards of the Hindelang nature trail.
  • Over the Steinköpfle , on the western flank of the mountains. This path can be approached directly from the village or from the Zillenbachtobel.
