Prince Hisahito of Akishino ( Japanese 悠 仁 親王 , Hisahito-shinnō , born September 6, 2006 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese prince of the imperial family and the only nephew of the current Tennō Naruhito . As the only son of Crown Prince Akishino , Prince Hisahito is second in line to the imperial line of succession after his father.

Life

Hisahito is the youngest child and the only son of Prince Fumihito and his wife Princess Kiko . He was born by caesarean section in Aiiku Hospital in Tokyo . The first Japanese prince since 1965 was born when he was born . This ended the succession crisis of the imperial family. His rule that only male members are allowed to ascend the throne was given future prospects with the birth of Hisahitos. After the birth of Princess Aiko (* 2001), the daughter of the Crown Prince at the time, there was a public debate about changing the law on the imperial household to allow women to accede to the throne. The then Prime Minister Jun'ichirō Koizumi convened a commission of judges, university professors and public employees to explore possible changes to the law and draft legislative proposals. With the birth of Hisahito, the debate about changing the law ceased. Since 2013 Hisahito is an elementary students of the state Women's University Ochanomizu (Ochanomizu University Elementary School) after taking a belonging to the same university since 2010. Succession to the throne

In the Japanese primogeniture it is only possible for male members of the imperial family to become Tennō . Hisahito's older sisters, the princesses Mako and Kako, are not admitted to the throne .

After his father, Prince Hisahito is the second most succession of the patrilineal Japanese hereditary monarchy under the Imperial Household Act . He is the only nephew of Tennō Naruhito.
