The historical landmark of civil engineering in Germany is an award from the Federal Chamber of Engineers for outstanding works of civil engineering in the Federal Republic of Germany. The award, which was awarded for the first time on December 5, 2007, is sponsored and financially supported by the federal government .

Goals and Criteria

The award is intended to make the public aware of the technical and economic as well as the cultural importance of engineering. Last but not least, the award is intended to strengthen social acceptance for technical innovations in architecture and to inspire young people for the civil engineering profession.

As criteria for the award, the objects must have been created over 50 years ago and be of essential importance for the development of civil engineering.

Excellent objects

A scientific advisory board of the Federal Chamber of Engineers has drawn up a list of 70 engineering structures that are worthy of an award. The following have been awarded so far:
