Hitoshi Yasuda

Hitoshi Yasuda ( Japanese 安 田 均 Yasuda Hitoshi , born July 25, 1950 in Kobe ) is a Japanese author, translator and game designer. As one of the fathers of the Japanese role-playing game scene, he brought systems such as GURPS , Dungeons & Dragons and Tunnels & Trolls to Japan as a translator . In the western anime and manga scene he is best known for his work on publications in the Record of Lodoss War series.

He originally translated American role-playing games as a hobby and was one of the fathers of the replay genre, in which the experiences of role-playing sessions are prepared and reproduced in book form. He played and created many worlds together with many of today's greats of the Japanese fantasy genre, both as a game master and himself as a player and translator. He influenced many authors such as B. Ryō Mizuno .

biography

He studied law at the University of Kyoto . During his student days he founded the Kyōto-U science fiction research group, where he came into contact with many later colleagues. During the 1970s and early 1980s he worked for the Marubeni company as a translator for American SF literature.

In 1986 (registered in 1987 as Kabushiki Kaisha ) he founded Group SNE, a company that still exists today and is a big name in Japanese role, board and card game, but also in science fiction and fantasy Scene. Since then, she has been a well-known game and literature maker in these genres and has produced many game and novelists. Together with his company he publishes Japanese versions of European games as well as games by Japanese authors, specialist magazines on the hobby board game and various media articles.
