Hockey at the Pan American Games

The men's hockey tournaments at the Pan American Games have been held since 1967. The women's national teams followed suit 20 years later. Argentina is the men's record holder with 8 out of 12 titles and has made it to all finals so far. In the women's tournament, Argentina achieved six titles in seven tournaments. The Americans had to admit defeat Argentina five times before they won their first title in 2011. In 1991 Canada lost the final to Argentina.

Men's

The tournament has so far been dominated by record winners Argentina and Canada, who divided the previous tournament victories among themselves. Both teams faced each other ten times in the final. While Argentina took part in all 12 finals, Canada took part in ten and lost only two semi-finals. Argentina's only two other final opponents were in 1967 in Winnipeg, Trinidad and Tobago and in 1971 in Cali, Mexico.

Ladies

The Argentines won six of seven tournaments in the final against the United States. In 2011, the Americans won the title for the first time. 1991 Canada could move into the final. Apart from the three aforementioned teams, no other team was present at all tournaments.
