Hokus Pokus Willi Wiberg is a Norwegian animated film by Torill Kove from 2013. The film is based on the children's book series about the boy Willi Wiberg by Gunilla Bergström .
action
Seven-year-old Willi Wiberg wants a dog for his birthday. However, his father is against it because Willi is still far too young to keep a dog. So Willi turns to a magician and hopes that he can fulfill his wish.
production
Hokus Pokus Willi Wiberg is based on the children's book Hokus Pokus, Alfons Åberg! from 1987, which is part of the Swedish children's book series about the boy Willi Wiberg (originally Alfons Åberg , in Norwegian Albert Åberg ), which Gunilla Bergström started in 1972 with the book Gute Nacht, Willi Wiberg ( Godnatt, Alfons Åberg ). It was the first film adaptation for the cinema; up until then there was only one cartoon series produced by Swedish television from 1979 onwards.
Hokus Pokus Willi Wiberg opened in Swedish cinemas on August 23, 2013 and in Norwegian cinemas on September 13, 2013. He has also appeared at numerous international festivals, including the 2014 Chicago International Children's Film Festival and the London Children's Film Festival . The film was released in Germany on December 4, 2014 and will be released on DVD in March 2015.

criticism
On the occasion of the German cinema premiere, the Frankfurter Rundschau wrote that the film “offers little viewing value, but perhaps its simplicity is particularly appealing to very young children for whom ' Paddington ' would still be too wild.” “What in simple dot-and-dash drawings tapping across the screen, certainly fulfills the idea of a film for preschool children, as professionally trained educators have devised, ”said the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger . The film is more of a "coloring book in moving images" that would have been better on television than in the cinema.
