Holdenstedt is a district of the Hanseatic city of Uelzen in Lower Saxony with around 2,500 inhabitants. The Gerdau flows through the north of the village and the Hardau through the south and east. There is a connection to the B4 in the southeast .

history

Holdenstedt was first mentioned in a document in 1061 and was an independent municipality until 1972. The population totaled 625 in 1925, rose to 764 by 1933 and was already 832 in 1939.

In the district is the Holdenstedt Castle , built in the 18th century , which today houses the local history museum of the Uelzen district. The Holdenstedt cemetery was laid out in 1628 and is now a listed building.

On July 1, 1972, Holdenstedt was incorporated into the district town of Uelzen.
