Hydrologically the main source river of the Ilmenau |
The Gerdau is the 29.7 km long, western and orographically left source river of the Ilmenau in the Lower Saxony districts of Celle and Uelzen ( Germany ). Your water has consistently quality class II (moderately contaminated).
course
The Gerdau rises in the Lüneburg Heath on a sander plateau in the Kiehnmoor, which is a designated nature reserve . Its source is in the outer northern part of the Südheide Nature Park in the Celle district in the municipality of Faßberg - 5.5 km northeast of the Faßberg core town through which the Gerdau does not flow. 7 km northeast of the 70 m above sea level. The source located at NHN Höhe lies in the district of Uelzen, the Eimke passed by the river and 2 km east-southeast of the Faßberg ( 97 m ). Another source stream or Trench, the on some topographical maps with Gerdau indicated, comes from the reported as a nature reserve Brambosteler Moor ; its headwaters are in the district of Uelzen in the south of the municipality of Wriedel .
Initially, the Gerdau flows north-northeast over a length of about 2 km. It runs first in the district of Celle, then on the border of the districts of Celle and Uelzen and then in the district of Uelzen. Immediately afterwards - when the source stream or ditch coming from the Brambosteler Moor is recorded - it bends to the east and shortly afterwards turns to the northeast. After the confluence of the Allerbach (Wichtenbecker Graben) , it passes the village of Eimke , and turns to the east at the confluence of the Ellendorfer Graben. After the Verhorn mill , the Schwienau joins the Gerdau in terms of water flow and a tributary that is longer than that ; If you count it as the upper course, the Gerdau is almost 36 km long.
Thereafter, the Gerdau runs through Groß Süstedt and, after the Häsebach has been incorporated , through Gerdau . Then, feeding the Bohlsen watermill , it flows southeast through Bohlsen . After the Steinbeck has been taken up, the Gerdau runs through Hansen . When passing Holdenstedt, it bends to the northeast and takes on the Hardau .
Ultimately, the Gerdau flows south past the Uelzen district of Veerßen , to shortly afterwards form the Elbe tributary Ilmenau at a height of about 35 m , together with the water from the Stederau , which comes from the south-east and is somewhat less watery but somewhat longer ; the latter then runs through the Uelzen core city.
history
In 1892, as part of the Uelzen – Celle field railway exercise, a railway line with a length of around 70 km was built for a narrow-gauge railway from Uelzen via Hansen and Weesen to Celle . The purpose of the exercise was to find out how, in the event of war, material could be transported to the front on a narrow-gauge railway as quickly as possible. In Hansen, a wooden bridge was built to cross the Gerdau. This route was chosen because there were few obstacles and the heath area was isolated.
Catchment area and tributaries
The catchment area of the Gerdau is 427.74 km² . Their tributaries include - with orographic allocation (l = left-hand side, r = right-hand side; viewed downstream) :
