Holger Schmenk

Holger Schmenk (born July 10, 1978 in Oberhausen - Sterkrade ) is a German historian and headmaster at the Sophie-Scholl-Gymnasium in Oberhausen.

Life

Schmenk studied at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg and later did his doctorate at the University of Duisburg-Essen , which has since merged, on the history of the city of Xanten in the 19th century. He was a research associate there and then at the University of Siegen . Schmenk also worked as a freelance journalist and museum educator . His main research interests include the history of the Rhineland, historical didactics and popular music.

He is the initiator and co-editor of the annual publication Rhein-Maas: History, Language and Culture of the Institute for Lower Rhine Cultural History and Regional Development up to the fifth volume since 2010 and co-editor of the first two volumes of the series Historica et Didactica - Further Education History and Chairman of the North Rhine Regional Association - Westphalian history teacher in the Association of History Teachers in Germany
