history

Holmbrunn (also: Holnpron, Holnprunn) was first mentioned in writing in 1330. The oldest Leuchtenberg fief book from 1396 testified that the tithing of Holmbrunn was issued to a Muracher. In 1427 Caspar the Zenger was sitting on Holmbrunn. At the request of the widowed Elisabeth Barbara von Murach, Holmbrunn was raised to a state estate in 1702 . Her son Ludwig Adam von Murach was the first owner of Holmbrunn, who in 1708 gave up compulsory Landsassenpflicht. Christian Lorenz von Gerz acquired Holmbrunn in 1716 on behalf of his wife Anna Maria Katharina (née von Sazenhofen) for 2000 guilders. In 1728 the next compatriot was Johann Joseph Clement Anton Freiherr von Weichs. He sold Holmbrunn in 1738 for 1,300 guilders to Johann Andrä Rueland. After Rueland's death in 1777, Johann Götz became the owner of Holmbrunn in 1729. In 1796 Dorothea Theresia von Götz was a Landsassin on Holmbrunn. From the 19th century, Holmbrunn had lost its special position.

As of March 23, 1913 (Easter) Holmbrunn was part of the Niedermurach parish and had one house and seven residents.

In 1969, together with Enzelsberg , Holmbrunn, Ödhöfling , Reichertsmühle , Schlotthof and Voggendorf, Rottendorf formed the municipality of Rottendorf with a total of 268 inhabitants and an area of 1167.25 hectares.

On December 31, 1990, Holmbrunn had three residents and belonged to the parish of Niedermurach.
