Holtum is a district of the city Werl in the district of Soest in Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia .
The district with its 1,088 inhabitants (status: 2010) is located directly on the B 1 and is the westernmost village in the Soest district .
Holtum has a total area of 5.35 km². The center of the village is the St. Agatha Church , the shooting hall, the fire station and a restaurant.
history
Around 890 the village was first mentioned as "Holthem". In the Middle Ages, the execution site Galgenplatz was located here on the Birkenbaum , which is reminiscent of today's Henkerstrasse.
On July 1, 1969, the previously independent municipality of Holtum was incorporated into the city of Werl.
