Homosexuality isillegal among men in Ghana and is taboo in large parts of society.

Homosexual acts among men are illegal in Ghana, while homosexual acts among women are legal. According to the Criminal Code of 1960 in Chapter 6, Article 105, homosexual acts among men are threatened with prison terms.

Anti-discrimination laws

There is no anti-discrimination law in Ghana. The protection of sexual orientation is not included in the constitution of Ghana .

Recognition of homosexual couples

State recognition of same-sex couples does not exist in the form of same-sex marriage or in a registered partnership .

Social situation

An LGBT organization from Ghana headed by Prince MacDonald is trying to get homosexual acts legalized in the country.
