In Zambia, homosexuality ishighly taboo: 98% of the population condemns homosexuality and an NGO ( Zambians Against People with Abnormal Sexual Acts ) has been working to combat homosexuality and homosexualssince 1999. Homosexual acts are punishable in Zambia under Chapter 87 of Paragraphs 155 to 157 of the Criminal Code. Due to the illegality, there are no LGBT communities in Zambia. Homosexual people are pushed into the social underground. In 2010 the National Constitutional Conference approved theintroduction of a clauseprohibiting same-sex marriage .
