Horacio Cabarcos (born August 30, 1950 in Lanús ) is an Argentine double bass player and tango musician.

Cabarcos had first lessons with his father Fernando Cabarcos and studied until 1970 at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música "Carlos López Buchardo" with Faustino Del Hoyo and Enzo Raschelli de Ferraris . From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the orchestra of the Argentine Air Force, after which he played a. a. in the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Radio Nacional , the Orquestra Nacional de Música Juan de Dios Filiberto and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional . In 1973 he became a member of the orchestra at the Teatro Colón , with whom he undertook concert tours through Latin America and Europe and made recordings. In 1981 he took part in recordings for records and films of the Orquesta de Conciertos de Waldo de los Ríos under Lalo Schifrin .

As a tango musician, Cabarcos a. a. with Roberto Rufino , Alberto Podestá , Roberto Goyeneche , Raúl Lavié , Virginia Luque , Alberto Marino , Floreal Ruiz , Jorge Valdez , Argentino Ledesma , Mario Bustos , Nelly Vázquez , Adriana Varela , Guillermo Fernández , Estela Raval , Sandra Luna , Tito Reyes , Rodolfo Lesica , Héctor Pacheco , Néstor Fabián , Atilio Stampone , Mariano Mores , Julián Plaza , Carlos Figari , Armando Pontier , Antonio Agri , Ernesto Baffa and Héctor Stamponi together. He worked on recordings with Leopoldo Federico , Horacio Salgán , Susana Rinaldi , Osvaldo Requena , Hugo Marcel , José Colangelo , Antonio Agri, Mercedes Sosa , Sandra Luna, Cacho Castaña , Gloria Díaz , Guillermo Fernández, María Graña , Horacio Molina , Jorge Sobral , Edmundo Rivero , Rubén Juárez , Jorge Falcón , Eladia Blázquez , Leonardo Favio , Adriana Varela, Orlando Trípodi , the Julio Pane Trío , Fabián Bertero y Los músicos de Buenos Aires , the Hugo Díaz Trío and the Pablo Agri Sexteto with.

From 2001 he taught tango double bass at the Buenos Aires Conservatory. In 2003 he took part in the recording and the film Café de los maestros after a production by the Teatro Colón . He performed with the orchestra of these recordings in 2006 in the Salle Pleyel in Paris and in the Lyon Amphitheater, in Athens and Archea Olympia in 2009 and in Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore in 2010. The composer Leopoldo Federico , in whose trio and orchestra he has played as his father's successor since 1979, dedicated the Tango De tal palo ... to him in 2006 .
