The Hornbach is a two-kilometer-long left tributary of the Steigbach . The brook is called in its upper course in the municipality of Brütten Horntobelbach .

etymology

The name of the brook comes from the "horn" (protruding hill wall) that are formed by the brook and ravine.

geography

course

The stream rises at 612  m above sea level. M. northeast of the village of Brütten at a foothill of the Jungholz forest area between the Heissetrütiweg and then flows through the Horntobel down to the Dättnauerberg . On its entire route, the brook takes only two tributaries on the left side, on the one hand after 300 meters the Wingertenholzbächli and then in the Dättnauertal on the BMX route of Powerbike Winterthur the Dättnauerbach , which reaches the Hornbach underground. The Hornbach then flows another 250 meters before it flows into the Steigbach, which in turn drains itself into the Töss a little later .
