In the spring of 1923, a football team was founded for the first time at Horner TV. As part of the clean divorce , the football department split off as the Hamburg-Horner sports club in 1923 , whose further fate is unknown. It was not until 1966 that the football department was re-established, which eleven years later qualified for the DFB Cup. In the first round, the Horner Alemannia Eggenstein beat 2-1. Now Horner TV had to compete in round two at TSV 1860 Munich . The Horner kept a 0-0 for 15 minutes before losing the game with 0:15. In the meantime, Alemannia Eggenstein protested against the rating of the first round game because the game was played on a grand court contrary to the regulations . The DFB set a replay of the first round that the Horner lost on natural grass with 0: 8 against Eggenstein.

In 1986 the Horner made it to the state league , the second highest amateur league in Hamburg. Seven years later, he was promoted to the Hamburg Association League . There the team was last in the 1993/94 season, but remained due to the introduction of the regional league in the Hamburg amateur upper house. A year later, the team had to relegate. The low point of the season was a 10:10 defeat at SC Condor Hamburg . In 2000, the Horner relegated from the regional league and, together with the footballers from SV St. Georg, formed the FC St. Georg-Horn syndicate , which was promoted to the regional league in 2002 and two years later, only one point behind Niendorfer TSV became runner-up.

The successful team consisted of ex-professionals such as Elard Ostermann . Just a few years later, the high ended in financial disaster. With 22: 174 goals and only six points, the syndicate was relegated from the regional league in 2007. The syndicate fell apart again, and Horner TV took over the place in the district league. Two more relegations brought the team in 2009 in the lowest division, the district class. A year later, the first men's team was canceled. At the end of the 2015/16 season, Horner decided to found its own men's football department again. This then started on July 1, 2016 with a men's team in the district class. Home arena is the sports field on von-Elm-Weg .
