Horst Auer

Horst Auer (born July 17, 1934 in Nuremberg ; † 2007 in Munich ) was a German architect , medalist and professor at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

Horst Auer studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich from 1955 to 1960, where he subsequently worked as an assistant at the chair for the basics of design and representation. In 1967 he was awarded the dissertation Colored plaster to enhance the architectural appearance of buildings. A chronological representation of the development using the example of the urban house facade in Germany from 1900-1960 .

Since 1968 the student took part as an artist in various competitions for commemorative coins .

In 1975 Auer received his habilitation and then took on extensive teaching assignments as a private and university lecturer. In 1982 he was appointed professor for the basics of design and presentation methodology at the Faculties of Architecture and Land Care at the Technical University of Munich.

Horst Auer was one of the founding members of the Munich Medalists' Circle of Artists, which was established in 1988 at the suggestion of the graphic artist and medalist Reinhart Heinsdorff in collaboration with the then chief curator of the State Mint Collection , Ingrid Szeiklies-Weber , but did not turn to art more intensively until the early 1990s the medal too. Auer regularly presented his own works to the international medal exhibition of the Fédération internationale de la médaille d'art (FIDEM) from 1992 in London to 2002 in Paris .

In 2002 the artist fell so seriously ill that further artistic work was no longer possible. He died in 2007.
