Horst Beintker

Horst Johannes Eduard Beintker (born January 7, 1918 in Berlin ; † 2012 in Herning , Denmark ) was a German Protestant theologian and university professor.

Life

Horst Beintker's parents were Paul Beintker and his wife Gertrud, née Engelke. He attended the Humboldt-Gymnasium in Berlin and graduated from the Fontane- Aufbauschule in Neuruppin . In 1937 he worked for the Reich Labor Service in the Großkühnau camp. This was followed by military service in the Anhalt 33rd Infantry Regiment, with which he fought in World War II and was seriously wounded. In 1944 he was in general staff training and was most recently a captain .

After a brief captivity at the end of the war, he studied theology at the University of Greifswald and at the Church University of Berlin from autumn 1945 . From 1949/1950 until the winter semester 1951/1952 he was inspector of the Theological Study House in Greifswald. He also worked as a Hebrew teacher. He received his doctorate in Greifswald in 1951. The topic of the dissertation was Overcoming the Temptation of Luther in the Light of the Operation in Psalmos 1519–1521 . His doctoral supervisor was Rudolf Hermann , whose collected works he published from 1967.

In 1955 , Horst Beintker completed his habilitation in Greifswald. From 1954 Beintker was a lecturer in the history of theology and in 1957 he became a lecturer in systematic theology in Greifswald. In 1960 he also received a teaching position in Rostock . From 1961 until his retirement in 1983 he was Professor of Systematic Theology in Jena . In the last few years before the fall of the Berlin Wall , he managed to get permission to leave the GDR for Denmark in order to marry his second wife, Thérèse. From 1990 he lived permanently in Denmark. In Flensburg he still accepted teaching assignments in major theology until 1995.

From his first marriage, Beintker had a daughter and four sons, including the theology professor Michael Beintker .
