Horst Farnbacher

Horst Farnbacher (born June 24, 1961 in Steinbach) is a German motorsport team owner and former automobile racing driver . He is the father of the two brothers Dominik and Mario Farnbacher .

Racing career

Horst Farnbacher gained experience in amateur motorsport in the early 1980s. In 1985, 1987 and 1988 he competed in the Volkswagen Polo Cup Germany and won the championship title in 1988. The following year he drove in the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup .

In the 1991 season changed Farnbacher in Formula racing and went in the German Formula 3 Championship and in the ONS Formula 3 Trophy at the start.

In 1992 he returned to GT motorsport and initially drove in the Porsche Carrera Trophy , which he finished with fifth place in the overall standings. He then competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany from 1993 to 1997 . His best result in this racing series was the runner-up title in 1997 . He started in 1993 and from 1995 to 1998 also in the Porsche Supercup , in which he achieved sixth place in the championship three times in a row from 1995 to 1997.

For one season he drove with Tilman Benz in the Peugeot 306 Cup and won the one-make cup there in 1994.

Farnbacher contested his only long-distance race in his driving career at the 1999 Vallelunga 6-hour race in the Italian GT Championship. Together with Mario Spagnoli and Arturo Merzario , he drove a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 996) to eighth place overall and first place in the G3 GITC class.

Farnbacher Motorsport

Horst Farnbacher founded the Farnbacher Motorsport team in 1992, which was later renamed Farnbacher Racing . He celebrated his greatest team successes in 2009 with overall GT2 victory in the Asian Le Mans Series and second place in the GT2 classification at the 2010 Le Mans 24-hour race .
