Piergiuseppe Peroni and Leonardo Maddalena achieved third place overall on a Lucchini SR2

The 6-hour race of Vallelunga 1999 , also Gold Cup, 6 ore Vallelunga , took place on November 21 at the Autodromo Vallelunga and was the seventh round of the Italian GT Championship of that year.

The race

In the last race of the Italian GT Championship in 1999, prototypes were also eligible to start. Thomas Bscher registered a BMW V12 LM for himself and Emanuele Pirro . Alex Caffi and Beppe Gabbiani drove a Riley & Scott Mk III. There was also a Ferrari 333SP , which was driven by Luca Drudi , among others .

All three prototypes failed in the race. The Riley & Scott Mk III had a gearbox failure. Thomas Bscher had to shut down the BMW after damage to the drive shaft. A defective front brake stopped the Ferrari. Denny Zardo and Angelo Lancelotti won the overall standings in a Tampolli RTA-98 powered by an Alfa Romeo engine , ten laps ahead of the competition.
