Horst Ludwigsen

Horst Ludwigsen (born May 12, 1932 in Lüdenscheid ; † July 8, 2015 ) was a German author who wrote primarily in Low German .

Life

After studying economics in Cologne , Ludwigsen was self-employed as a sales representative before going to school as a commercial student adviser in 1964 . He concentrated on the subject of German and worked at the teachers' seminar in Hagen and at the commercial schools in Halver-Ostendorf . In 1981 he received his doctorate in German philology from the Ruhr University in Bochum after four years of additional studies . Since 1990 he has published books in Sauerland Platt and translates from High German into Low German. In 2000 he received the Rottendorf Prize for the promotion of the Low German language, and in 2004 he was to receive the Federal Republic of Germany's Medal of Merit , which he refused to accept. Horst Ludwigsen lived in Schalksmühle and worked, among other things, as a painter.
