Horst Menge (born January 9, 1925 ) is a former German football player who was active between 1950 and 1953 for BSG Mechanik / Motor Gera in the top division of GDR football , the GDR Oberliga .

Athletic career

After the merger of the two company sports associations (BSG) Gera-Süd and RFT Gera in September 1950 to form BSG Mechanik Gera, the 25-year-old Horst Menge appeared in the squad of the newly formed soccer team for the top division season 1950/51. He was used by coach Erich Dietel from matchday 1 and played as a striker in 32 of the 34 point games, but only scored one goal. Also in the 1951/52 season, in which the Geraer competed as BSG Motor, quantity was part of the player base with 32 appearances in 36 league games. Also the new trainers Walter Gloede and Oskar Büchnerput him back in attack, and he played almost without exception as a left winger. In this season he scored six goals. Volume played his last games in the GDR league in 1952/53. Up to the 9th matchday he played as a left winger in seven games and scored his last goal for Gera in the encounter on the 9th matchday Wismut Aue - Motor Gera (4: 3). After that, Quantity was only used twice in the second half of the season. At the end of the season Gera had to relegate from the league.

In the seasons 1953/54 and 1954/55 he was completely absent from the squad now playing in the second-rate GDR league as BSG Wismut. He only appeared in one game of the transition round in 1955 , which was played in the fall to change to the calendar year season.
