Hoshiarpur ( Panjabi ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ) is a city ( Municipal Corporation ) in the northwest Indian state of Punjab with 168,653 inhabitants (2011 census).
Hoshiarpur is located in the lowlands at an altitude of 300 m 10 km from the Siwaliks . The city is the seat of the district of the same name . The NH 70 road leads to the city of Jalandhar , 40 km southwest . The NH 103A connects Hoshiarpur with the city of Garhshankar, 40 km southeast . The population is divided into 75.6% Hindus and 21% Sikhs .
