Pathankot ( Panjabi ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ ) is a city ( Municipal Corporation ) in the Indian state of Punjab .
Pathankot is the district capital of the district of the same name , which was separated from the Gurdaspur district in 2011 . In the 2011 census, the population was 156,306. Pathankot lies at an altitude of 337 m at the foot of the Siwaliks . The Chakki Khad , a right tributary of the Beas , flows east of Pathankot.
Pathankot is a transportation hub in northwest India. The city has an airport. Several railway lines run past Pathankot.
