Hossein Kalhor (born October 28, 1982 ) is an Iranian grass skier . He has taken part in world championships three times and achieved three podium places in the World Cup .
Career
Kalhor played his first international race at the World Cup finals in Nové Město na Moravě in August 2004, but remained outside of the points. Shortly afterwards he reached two podium places at the FIS races in Dizin, Iran . In August 2005 he took part in the FIS races in Branná , in which he achieved 19th place in slalom as the best result, and in September he started at the 2005 World Championships in Dizin. Here his only result was 15th place in the Super-G. In the 2006 season, the Iranian only took part in the FIS races in Dizin, where he celebrated his first victory in the slalom.
At the beginning of the 2007 World Cup season , Kalhor won his first World Cup points. In the races of Dizin he reached third place in the Super-G and fourth in the giant slalom, but in the absence of some top runners. At the end of the season he was able to get more World Cup points in Rettenbach with 16th place in the giant slalom and 21st place in the super combination. At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách he was 22nd in the super combined and 26th in the super G.
On August 7th, 2008 Kalhor achieved his best World Cup result so far with second place in the Super-G of Dizin. The next day he achieved sixth place in the giant slalom and was 32nd overall in the 2008 season . In the 2009 season, Kalhor also achieved his best World Cup result at the home races in Dizin. He finished sixth in the giant slalom and 13th in the Super-G. At the World Cup races in Maria Gugging at the end of August, he finished twelfth in the giant slalom and 14th in the slalom, placing him in 15th place in the overall standings, tied with Swiss Philipp Menge . At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, the Iranian rode in 23rd place in the super combined, 31st place in the giant slalom and 38th place in the Super-G. The 2010 season ended with a Kalhor eighth and tenth place finish at the World Cup races in Dizin and a podium finish in a FIS giant slalom at the 21st overall position.
After he had only participated in the FIS races in Dizin in the 2011 season, Kalhor started in the 2012 season in addition to the FIS races again in the World Cup races in Dizin and the World Cup finals in Rettenbach. With third place in the first of the two Super-G in Dizin, he reached his third podium in the World Cup, in another three World Cup races he was among the top ten. In the overall World Cup he reached eleventh place as the best Iranian.
In addition to grass skiing , Kalhor competed in some alpine FIS races until 2006 , mainly in Iran and Turkey. He was able to classify himself among the top five three times.
