The Hotel Equatorial Penang Open 2006 took place from July 31 to August 5, 2006 in Penang , Malaysia . The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2005/06 and belonged to the WSA Silver 15 category . The prize money was $ 15,000.

In the final of the two top seeded players, Nicol David beat Rachael Grinham with 9: 5, 9: 6, 5: 9 and 9: 3. For David it was the 13th title win on the tour.

The field of participants in the women's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. A wildcard was not awarded.
