Hotel Hafnia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hotel Hafnia is a four-star hotel in the center of the Faroese capital, Tórshavn . The name Hafnia is of Latin origin and means port , an allusion to the colloquial name Havn for Tórshavn.

The hotel was built from 1950 and opened on November 1, 1951 . It has 102 beds. In addition to international cuisine, guests will also find Faroese dishes , such as stuffed puffins, on the menu.

Until 2004 it belonged to the German family Restorff (see the brewery Restorffs Bryggjarí ). After the change of ownership, it will be managed by two women who were both previously employed here.

In Lisbeth Nebelong's Danish novel Når Engle spiller Mozart (“When the Angels Play Mozart”) , the Hafnia is one of the central locations.

Well-known guests so far have included: Dirch Passer , Poul Bundgaard , Kim Larsen , Bjørn Afcelius , Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller and Anne Linnet .
