Kim Larsen
Kim Larsen (born October 23, 1945 in Copenhagen ; † September 30, 2018 in Odense ) was a well-known musician in Denmark , Sweden and Norway , who achieved great success both as the front singer of the band Gasolin ' and as a soloist in Denmark. With his sometimes very socially critical texts, he had a certain influence on public life in Denmark.
Life
Career
Kim Larsen celebrated his first major successes in the 1970s with his band Gasolin '. Almost every Dane knows the hits of this band such as B. Masser af succes , Hvad gør vi nu, lille du? or the probably greatest hit Kvinde min . An attempt to gain a foothold with English-language songs in the USA failed.
In Denmark, however, Kim Larsen was also successful as a soloist: his songs Midt om natten (from the film of the same name, German title: Copenhagen - Mitten der Nacht , for which Larsen not only wrote the soundtrack, but also played one of the leading roles), Jutlandia , De smukke unge mennesker , Køb Bananer and Joanna are hits. However , Kim Larsen did not sing with Joanna himself. The song Jutlandia from 1986 brought the use of the slowly forgotten hospital ship Jutlandia during the Korean War back to the Danish consciousness.
Kim Larsen is considered one of the greatest Danish pop musicians to date in Denmark.
Trivia
On the solo album Værsgo from 1973, Gasolin's other members appear as guest musicians.
The song Joanna from the same album was sung by Søren Bernbon, who was fourteen at the time. Later the song was sung very successfully by "Denmark's most beautiful single guitarist" Karsten Skovgaard during live performances by Kim Larsen and Kjukken.
The title of the album 231045-0637 is the CPR number (number in the central register of people in Denmark , consisting of birthday and serial number) Kim Larsens.
In 2006 Kim Larsen was offered the Knight's Cross by the Royal Court. He declined on the grounds: "Since I find it inappropriate for an old street boy and pop singer to present himself with a cross, ribbon and star, I politely say no to the Knight's Cross [...] I would have liked to smoke a cigarette with the Queen, if the staff [ie him] is allowed ”(freely translated).

On September 30, 2018, the Danish singer Kim Larsen died of cancer at the age of 72. Many people in Denmark lit candles and put them in their windows to commemorate the musician - a reference to Larsen's song “Flyvere i Natten” ('Flieger in der Nacht') and the phrase “Jeg sætter lys, lys i with vindue / til minde om alle dem / der forsvandt dengang / og som aldrig mer 'kom hjem ”(' I put candles, candles in my window to commemorate all those who disappeared back then and never came home '). The song is about Allied aviators who supported the Danish resistance in Germany- occupied Denmark with nightly low-level flight operations and about the people killed during the German occupation.
